華文學生毛筆書法比賽

為弘揚中華文化, 支持三藩市灣區中文教育, 進一步鼓勵和提高學生學習中文的熱情, 由<<星島日報>>主辦, AGLA美國人手總經理甄錦順特別贊助,  首度舉辦華文學生毛筆書法比賽, 歡迎灣區各地華文學子踴躍參與. 此次毛筆書法比賽分為小學組和中學組, 歸類以參賽者在華文學校的年級為準, 如非華文學校學生, 則按英文學校年級計算. 參賽者採用宣紙以繁體毛筆書寫參賽作品. 按各組制定內容書寫, 作品須提交原稿, 不接受影印或電腦掃描版. 作品正文與落款需使用不同字體 (如有代表作者的印章, 亦請蓋上). 同時提交參賽表格. 書法命題如下:

FCSN South Bay Center is recruiting youth volunteers to help in our 2012 Summer Camp and Music Camp.

Time:

7/23/2012 – 8/10/2012, Monday to Friday from 8:45AM-4:30PM.

Location: 

6345 Janary Way, San Jose, CA 95129

(Guidepost Gospel Church near Miller Middle School)

Duties:

To help our special needs campers to engage camp activities including: dance/movement, art, cooking, social skills, pre vocational skills, PE, field trip, music, and swimming.

Mandatory Training:

 All youth volunteers are required to attend orientation training on 7/14/2012 from 9:00AM -12:30PM in FCSN South Bay Center at 3675 Payne Ave., San Jose, CA 95117

Benefit:

 -A great opportunity to earn community service hours.

- Learning skills to work with special needs people.

-Higher priority to be an assistant teacher in FCSN South Bay Saturday Family Support gathering.

-A fun summer activity and costs free.

 Requirement:

Age 15 or above, creative, willing to learn skills to work with special need children, and has to commit minimum one week in the camp.

FYCO Concert 5/12

On the Docks Suite Concert

Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra (FYCO)

FYCO will be holding the On the Docks Suite Concert at California Theater in downtown San Jose, on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 2:30 PM. On the Docks is a modern Peking Opera originally composed for a Chinese orchestra in 1965 by YU Huiyong, a genius scholar and mentor of Chinese music. FYCO adapted this version to a four-movement suite for the modern Chinese orchestra today. Operatic music is one of the most important sectors in traditional Chinese music. It is one of our principal goals to expose this tradition to more students and audience.

FYCO is constantly pursuing the structure of a full-scale and well-balanced Chinese orchestra, complete with wind, plucked, percussion and string sections played by mostly young musicians. We value the natural acoustics in the concert hall and do not use microphones in our programs, including the solos. As an art and education institute we cherish the authentic Chinese music heritage, and strongly promote collaborative teamwork. Recognized for our exceptional achievements, FYCO is one of very few Asian-American organizations in the nation awarded by the city, state, and the federal government. 

As always, FYCO continues to providing high quality music education program at the Music Department of San Jose City College. A new building for the Department is under construction for the opening of this fall semester. For more info, please visit www.fyco.org.

僑務委員會「101年海外青少年文化志工培訓班」

 歡迎報名參加僑務委員會「101年海外青少年文化志工培訓班」

今年夏天，僑務委員會將在舊金山辦理為期三天之「101年海外青少年文化志工培訓班」，課程著重台灣文化體驗及實作、團隊建立及溝通、夏令營TA 相關技能及文化導覽志工技巧等，並將學員學習成果運用多媒體剪接影音，展示於網路上。歡迎14歲至18歲華裔青少年踴躍報名參加！

本培訓班的目的，是希望藉由這個平台讓第二代華裔青少年能有機會接觸並實際參與僑教中心活動及文化傳承的工作，透過此訓練讓他們不僅成為僑教中心的文化志工，還能成為未來傳播文化的種子。

凡完成培訓的學員僑委會將頒予結業證書，並核發15小時服務時數證明，同時承辦單位將安排學員加入FASCA組織(Formosa Association Student Culture Ambassador)成為北美華裔大家庭的成員。在未來一年中FASCA將規劃提供如僑委會僑教中心文化導覽、夏令營隊輔及社區服務等多樣性的志工服務機會，若累積服務時數超過100小時，承辦單位將主動協助學員申請「白宮青少年社區服務獎章」，讓學員未來在申請大學時更具優勢。
